The Canon HV20 HDV Camcorder brings the power of professional level HD recording to the consumer at a price that won't break the bank. The HV20 captures images in genuine HD resolution of 1920 x 1080, so you are shooting in real HDTV, all on a mini HDV tape. One of the biggest features this camera brings to the consumer camcorder market is the ability to capture in 24p, the same frame rate used in movie film.
Canon improves upon the standard CCD camcorders by using a 1/2.7" CMOS sensor to generate images. The 2.96MP CMOS sensor tends to process faster than a CCD for richer color and sharper detail. When you add a Canon Optics HD lens, 10x optical zoom and a DV II processor you get ultra-sharp color and incredible detail even from a distance. In order to ensure you get the highest possible video quality and picture Canon added an HDMI output and hot shoe terminal to the HV20.
As impressive as the HV20 is as a camcorder, it gets even better as a 3.1 megapixel digital still camera. Store images on tiny HC Mini-SD memory cards with the Mini-SD card slot. The optical image stabilizer and advanced AF auto focus make it easy to get crisp clean video and photos. Choosing and using the enhanced features such as Smooth Zoom Zebra Pattern and Level Shot Control, are easy thanks to the 2.7" LCD screen.
Canon fit everything you can ask from a camcorder in the HV20, all in a body that fits comfortably in your pocket. Now if they could only develop a "remove 10 pounds feature"... |
Specifications: |
Record your home movies in smooth, lifelike high-definition video. Canon's HV20 captures widescreen, high-def footage that looks great on your HDTV, using standard Mini DV camcorder tapes. Scenes from your recent vacation, child's soccer game, or family wedding will come alive with color, clarity and detail.
Stunning high-definition video The HV20 features a sophisticated image sensor and an enhanced high-definition video lens for superb images. A 10X optical zoom gives you great-looking closeups of faraway subjects. The advanced color filter processes reds, greens and blues separately for richer, more accurate colors. This cam can also record in standard-definition digital mode for videos that look great on just about any TV. An HDMI output lets you send high-definition video and digital audio to a compatible television or audio/video component through one convenient cable.
Helpful recording extras Canon added special features to make it easy to capture high-quality video, too. Instant Auto Focus allows your shots to snap into focus seconds faster than with most other camcorders. This means you won't waste precious moments waiting for auto focus to adjust as you zoom in on your subject. Optical image stabilization lets the camcorder correct the effects of an unsteady hand without degrading the quality of your recordings.
The HV20 lets you choose from multiple zoom speeds for more control over your closeups. Then there's Night Mode for filming colorful movies in low light, and a built-in video light to brighten up the darkest shots. For more professional-looking footage, use the selectable level and grid markers on the LCD to frame your subject and keep your recordings even with the horizon.
Flexible digital photo options This cam also records 2.76-megapixel digital stills to an optional mini Secure Digital? card. Continuous shooting mode lets you take five still images per second. You can even capture 2-megapixel photos while simultaneously recording high-definition video ? snap a photo for your scrapbook while filming your little star on stage or your little athlete on the field.
