good point and shoot 5/23/2009
I bought an SD900 two years ago. This camera awakened my love for photography. I took thousands of pictures of nature, architecture, food and family. The camera is super easy to use, and lightweight to carry with you. Most pictures turned out very well. The flash can be harsh, however, and the camera does not perform well in low light conditions. The video isn't HD, but it isn't bad. The videos do have a "ding" sound at the beginning when you watch them. The camera is very durable. I dropped mine a few times with no consequences. Good zoom, and fun features like macro settings. The camera does not have image stabilization and is sensitive to camera shake. You may want to consider the upgrades of this model: the sd970 and the sd990. As for myself I have just purchased an SLR Canon EOS 5D Mark II. I wasn't kidding when I said that the SD900 awakened my love for photography. I'll still be using an SD900 for times when I don't want to lug around my SLR.
