I bought this flash to use at my daughters wedding ( even though we hired professionals, i still wanted something on a more personal level.) Aside from that i really enjoyed using this flash..it's very powerful and has a decent battery life. By the end of the day the battery died, good timing. Illuminated LCD was easy to read, and the swivel head was a nice touch. Great product.

I have your 952af/canon, it working just fine.
One problem, it does not tell me the amout of power left in the batteries. This seems like a very simple item to add to the viewing screen.

I bought this flash unit for my Canon Eos 20D. Unfortunately, for digital camera owners, this flash will make your camera a little "top heavy". However, if you want a decent flash unit, get used to it.
Nice thing about using an external flash is it has its own battery compartment, so your batteries in your camera will last longer. Also, the viewfinder doesn't "black out" while the flash is recharging (which is good).
I use this flash in auto mode, and as a "fill flash".
For fill flash, I just use my normal exposure settings on the camera, and put the flash on manual and either 1/16 power or 1/8 power (essentially adding one or two stops of light into the scene). The fill flash brings the subject out away from the background and gives the picture a nice contrasty look.
If its fairly dark, I just use the Auto setting. Basically, you can choose three apertures depending on the ISO setting your using. The Flash sync speed is 1/1000th of a second, so I just set my camera to manual, and set the speed to 1/1000. Then, depending on your ISO setting, the back of the flash will recommend which F stop to use, and how far the light will throw.
I usually use 1/1000th of a second, F2.8, ISO 200, which gives me about 60 feet of coverage. I can also use the F5.6 setting for medium distance settings, and F11 setting for "intimate" flash settings where the subject is close.
All in all, this is a very usable flash at a very reasonable price. I get about 120 shots out of a set of four NimH 2700mah rechargeables before the flash starts losing power a little, however I have taken well over 160 shots out of this flash using one set and still got some juice out of it.
The flash has a swiveling head which is cool for "bouncing". You can point the flash at the ceiling, set it on manual, the work out the right power to light the room. Bounced flash looks so cool, like a magazine picture.
I'm giving you, the potential flash buyer, lots of info about how to use this flash. Although the manual is not so good with the product, it really doesn't do justice to the complexity of understanding light, exposure, and how flash fits into the picture (mind the pun).
Probably why so many people avoid using a flash, when it is really an invaluable tool.
Take your photography to the next level and get the Digital 008952, its short money for the difference it will make in your photography.

Highly recommended. Does a very nice job without taking a big dent on your wallet. I bought this one after reviewing others' comments and am very satisfied. Even the batteries last well :)

This will do just about anything you want on E TTL or E TTL2. Under & overexpose in partial increments, manually zoom while in TTL and more. I have an end cap diffuser to go with it, making it easy to get the right amount of fill, and in roughly the right spot with the bounce and swivel on the head.
I have used the option of setting the flash on rear curtain once or twice for a bit of different effect.
I've also used the multi flash mode more than once in time exposures. After wading through a bit of instructions to get the gist of how to set up the parameters, it performed as advertised.
I've not yet used it as a slave, as I have an older, smaller flash to do that.
I've also used it on manual.
Make sure you buy this, the Super, and not the baseline 952, as that flash's manual power settings are only 1 and 1/16, rather than a whole series of half stepped power increments.

Great flash, comes with the built in diffuser and reflecting plate and thats always a plus. although not something you'd see on a professionals camera it is something you'd see on an newbie or an amaeture camera. Good price, well shipped and came brand new still in the factory plastic.

I love the flash and everything else about it except one thing which is why i gave it 4 stars. Its a tad on the heavy side when placed on top of the camera but its really not that bad, just unexpected. Otherwise it works like a charm and really illuminates the area like one big Christmas Tree. Worth the money and the time. Arrived in 2 days (3 day selected), in mint condition. Thank you.

Great flash, works seamlessly with my Canon Eos. No problems here, one of the best prices on the net right now. Will defiantly recommend it to my friends.

Digital Concepts made a superb hot shoe mount flash when they decided to put this one together. The flash has many of the features for a price the Canon line of flashes have yet to develop. It offers plenty of power and I've found when connected to my Canon Rebel XTi that it gives me perfect exposures every time. The built in infrared beam is much better than the white annoying light built into consumer camera bodies, which is a real plus when working with live subjects such as grumpy old geezers or fidgety tricycle motors. This results in more captured smiles and less squints, frowning faces, or spooked pets.
The flash unit can be set for fully automatic 3D TTL readings, or can be used in full manual mode. The stoboscopic multi flash has an extremely wide adjustment range for strength, flash duration, and number or flashes. This is great when doing long exposures of single nearby subjects in action.
The flash unit is easy to operate and seems to be plenty durable. The only thing missing from this unit is a jack for use with external power sources, not a major inconvenience, but you'll want to always carry spare batteries.
